Product Overview
The 23S Cowhorn Pedo Extraction Forceps are pedodontic extraction forceps designed for the removal of lower primary (deciduous) molars. The paired pointed beaks seat into the bifurcation of the primary molar roots; as the handles are closed, the beaks wedge against the interradicular bone and elevate the tooth from its socket with minimal rocking. The reduced beak width and shorter working end are scaled to the pediatric arch for controlled access in a small mouth.
Key Features
- Pediatric-scale cowhorn beaks — Narrow, pointed beaks sized for lower primary molars
- Bifurcation-engaging design — Beaks seat in the root furcation for efficient elevation
- Serrated inner beak surfaces — Secure grip on the crown, reducing slippage
- Compact handle span — Comfortable control at lower extraction forces
- High-grade stainless steel — Corrosion-resistant and fully autoclavable
- Knurled handles — Reliable hold even with wet gloves
Clinical Applications
Used in pediatric dentistry for the extraction of non-restorable or over-retained lower primary molars, teeth with extensive caries or pulpal involvement, and serial extractions carried out ahead of orthodontic treatment. Paired with a pedo elevator to complete an atraumatic extraction while protecting the developing permanent successor and the surrounding alveolar bone. Suitable for general practice and pediatric dental clinics across Canada.
